Men of Impact Meetings:
Come join men from all walks of life as we discuss key topics that men deal with and how to overcome those and walk out freedom and greatness in life through mentorship and application of God’s principles. There are precise tools and resources that we use that are very practical and effective.

* 14 week specific curriculum
* Thursday nights every week- Starting Feb 2nd
* 7:00pm – 9:00pm
* Located at Indian Rocks Church Educational Bldg- Conference room 2nd Floor

Men of Impact’s Mission Statement:
Men of Impact is an organization committed to impacting men’s lives in such a significant way that men can become the kind of incredible leaders that are able to raise up strong, safe, and healthy families and who can lead their families into greatness. Whether you are married and have a family or single and in preparation for this amazing responsibility, Men of Impact is passionate about providing men the tools and resources needed to live out freedom and greatness in life through mentorship and application of God’s principles.

Men of Impact’s Slogan:
God transforming men to impact this generation to set a new Godly standard!

1st Week- Kick off Rally
 Praise and Worship
 Share my personal testimony and how out of that God gave me the heart to disciple men
 Share message on the 5 things God showed me through my testimony
 Pass out Men of Impact folders and go through the curriculum in great detail

2nd Week- Importance of a daily Q.T. and our walk and growth with God
Purpose: Taught on 1st because of the foundational importance to our lives
 Importance of growing in God and our walk with Him.
 Importance of reading the Word and a life of prayer
 Importance of application of God’s Word in our lives

3rd Week- 7th Week (5 weeks): Focus on identifying and resolving areas that men can really struggle in.
Purpose: These areas are crucial for men to #1- Be aware of the importance of #2- Identify in our own lives #3- Resolve, grow, heal, and become stronger in #4- Experience a life of more freedom and greatness due to the growth and healing in these areas:
 Identify and resolve Bitterness
 Identify and resolve Pride
 Identify and resolve Moral Failure
 Identify and resolve Rebellion
 Teaching on the importance of a ‘Father’s Blessing’- There are a lot of hurts experienced from fathers due to a lack of love, instruction, protection, and so forth. Grown men hold onto these hurts for a lifetime and I want to communicate the great need and design that God intended for a man to play in the role as a husband and father. We will be learning that we can get this kind of love and healing from our Heavenly Father.

8th Week- Guarding against pornography and lust
Purpose: To communicate the utter destruction that pornography has on a man- this will absolutely shock you men! To give many statistics that show just how big pornography is and how much it is rooted in our world and daily lives and how we as men can keep this out of our lives and all the benefits of that.

9th Week- Teaching on the importance of understanding and knowing our unique and exciting Mission Statement in Life-
Purpose: God has an exciting and unique “Mission Statement” for each of us. Wikipedia defines ‘mission statement’ as a formal short written statement of the purpose of a company or organization. The mission statement should guide the actions of the organization, spell out its overall goal, provide a sense of direction, and guide decision-making. If every company has one that defines them and that gives them direction then how much more important is it for men to know and understand their mission statement?! How do we know where to go unless we know our destination? When you enter a physical address into your GPS then at that point, from where we are right now, we are then guided and directed where we turn first, then where we turn next, all heading us towards our final destination. We as men will understand and write out our own mission statement and frame it and keep it in a practical place where we can read it and have it be a daily reminder of what God has called us to do.

10th Week- Everyone read their Mission Statements that they came up with and us talk about them more.
Purpose: Take time going over this in more depth and helping guys write theirs out. Spend this 2nd week making sure men are understanding their mission statement and actually writing it out.

11th Week- Teaching on the character of a man- a Real Man. A Godly Man.
A major theme of Men of Impact is Real Men Fight! Real Men Fight for their marriages, Real Men Fight for their kids, Real Men Fight for their families, Real Men Fight to do what is right, Real Men Fight to make a difference in this world, and Real Men Fight to make a Godly impact in the lives of others. As we look at what Real Men are and what Real Men fight for we will be looking at the character behind these types of men. What kind of character defines this type of man?

12th Week- Teaching on the importance and purpose of different relationships in a man’s life-
This will include dating, marriage, parents, friendships, mentorships, and others. We will understand the important roles that each of these relationships plays in the lives of us men and understand better the purpose and goals from each of these relationships. As 1 example we will be discussing dating relationships and teaching men that the goal of dating is to connect emotionally and spiritually with a woman and to see if their hearts can be opened up to one another and see if God is leading them to marriage to become One for a purpose that God would have for them. Ladies if a man were to ask you out in here and you knew they were impacted in a way that I am describing today and they understood what the right goal in dating was and they treated you as gentleman- raise your hand if you would be more likely to date them?

13th Week- Putting everything together. Summarizing everything that we have learned.
Walking all this out in the real world and what that looks like. For example- now that we understand the importance of our mission statement and we know what ours is- how do you walk that out in your life- how do you enter into that? Real world application. The importance of follow through and the wise know how of applying everything we learned.

14th Week- Graduation week!
Men can speak and read, if they wish, their Mission Statement and how God impacted them during this time. Bring their family and friends to share in the experience. Nice time of praise and worship, refreshments available and round tables for everyone to sit at. Make it a nice environment of men completing something and celebrating what God did in them.

Conclusion:
Men have such crucial and awesome roles, that are so important, that God has entrusted to us. Roles as husbands, roles as fathers, roles as the spiritual leaders who will determine the direction and health of our families. That’s why it is imperative that men walk in freedom, that men boldly live for God, that men Fight to do what is right, and that men become true Men of Impact!

I want to see, I will see a new Godly standard established in men, marriages, the family, and in the home instead of this downward slope of marriages and families failing miserably. In order to see this it all starts with the men.

Imagine a world where men were impacted in this way?! It can happen through the life transforming power and love of the Holy Spirit. Men of Impact- God transforming men to impact this generation to set a new Godly standard.

We would love to see you Men, Thursday February 2nd!

My local paper runs weekly ads for Macys that show attractive women in small lacy undergarments. Is this pornography? Sometimes these ads strike me as so nicely composed and shot that I study the work professionally (I’m in catalog design), but inevitably I find myself growing aroused, Does this mean I have Porn Addiction and just never knew it? How can I break this to my wife and what type(s) of help should I/we seek? Do I have to give up reading the newspaper to avoid Macys ads? PLS HELP!

Hosea

Hosea,

I first want to thank you for writing in! It shows that you want to better yourself for you and your wife and that is so commendable. I wouldnt say that those photos are pornographic as much as they can be inappropriate to viewers other than woman. I think it can also be irresponsible for those who market such revealing photos but unfortunately this is everywhere in the United States. Even though it is everywhere we can take a strong stand against how we personally allow it in our lives and you have made that first and biggest step my friend! You make me proud. Sounds like you do catalog work for a living but let me tell you that its easy to tell ourselves one thing so we can justify our actions. Everyone does it, I have done it, and I have to guard myself from still doing it. I would say that you are doing this in the way of saying I work in catalog design so you study these nicely composed photos. You do not need to see these photos to help in your job in any way. I understand the correlation you are making but it is not a must for your work and you can view just about anything else to study and admire.

First step is admitting there is a problem and you have done that and done that so simply and admittingly I am amazed! Again I am proud and must say that men have such a strong hold in this area of admitting wrong doing. Its called pride. Pride is the single most rooted cause of mens addictions and issues that we struggle with!

Second step is taking wise actions against your addiction. I have an internet filter on my laptop that I am writing to you from in my house. I will not allow myself to view pornography in anyway and I have to take this wise step and action so even if I am tempted to view pornography that I cannot even access it! See how that wise step and action works? Its essential and you have to take this with your paper. If it means not getting the paper sent to your home and you can only view it at Starbucks or out in public then so be it. Even though this could be very much an inconvenience for you especially since this is tied to your career in some way possibly you have to weigh the inconvenience with what you may be giving up in your marriage and in life with this addiction. Looking at it through that view its an easy decision or should be for you. Personaly having an internet filter is an inconvenience to me in a big way! Every day I cannot view some innocent website, or youtube, or many sites that I need to get on and I have to think of another way of getting that information. I do a lot of computer work also for career, university research, and other things but when I weighed it against what I would give up if I viewed pornography and what those damages were it was one of the easiest decisions I ever made!

Third step is accountability. If you are familiar with the Bible at all it says a lot on this subject of accountability. If you dont mind I will share two verses with you. James 5:16a says, “Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed.” Also Proverbs 27:17 says, ” As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” These verses talk about accountability. I strongly recommend accountability in your life. I would find a good male friend who you trust and let him know exactly what you are doing, dont water it down at all. Ask him if he would keep you accountable in this area? Make sure you will be completely honest with him. If this doesnt work then you should tell your wife as well what is going on and bring forth the truth to her. Tell her in a way that shows love and care for her and that is why you are telling her. Ask her for help in this area as you two are partners and one together and marriages are to help one another and support one another.

I know I have written a lot but you sound like you are on the right path and with a continued conscience that you have and with some good decision making you will prevail a better man and husband and will live a victorious and fulfilled life!

Dan
